Contest "Oriental Dance Stars"
Dear dance-lover!
Once again the contest “Oriental Dance Stars” will take place as part of the 9th International Oriental Dance Festival! Already the name of the contest indicates that the aim is to give every participant a chance to shine! 
The contest will take place at the main hall of the Salme Cultural Centre (http://www.salme.ee) and is open to international participants.
There are three categories:
soloists (amateurs)
soloists (professionals – dancers who teach and/or perform for a fee)
groups (including duets and trios)
The jury will be: Yousry Sharif (Egypt/USA), Sabriye Tekbilek (Sweden), Anu Toivonen (Finland), Daniella (Russia) and Kairi Reinvee (Estonia).
And of course, there will be prizes! 
The contest conditions are the following:
Soloists (amateurs)
The performance can be a dance of your own choice, in Egyptian style
Pure drum solo is not allowed
Maximum length of entry 3 minutes
in case of more than 7 participants, a semi-final will be held. For the semi-final, all participants will learn a short choreography, which will be sent to them on video by 18th October the latest (two weeks before the competition). At the rehearsal the participants will also learn a simple formation for the choreography. The jury will choose 7 participants who will then perform their dance.
Participation fee 10 euros
Soloists (professionals)
this year we are dedicating the professionals' competition to Abdel Halim Hafez. The performance must be a Hafez song, maximum length 6 minutes
in case of more than 7 participants, a semi-final will be held. For the semi-final the partixipants will perform a short improvisation on stage. The music of the improvisation will be introduced at the rehearsal, where the participants will also practice the movement on stage. The jury will choose 7 participants who will then perform their dance.
participation fee 15 euros.
Groups
The performance must be folkloric (Saidi, Fellahi, Khaleegi, Haggala, Nubian, Ghawazi, Debke, Simsimeyya)
Beledi and Shaabi are not allowed
maximum length of entry 3 minutes
The number of participating groups is limited – registration will be closed after 7 groups have signed up.
